Factory LX SS Hatchback 308 Manual transmission Mandarin red hatchback 1 of 327 in this configuration. Tightly held car with strong ties to the Holden motorsport world. Owned (approx 22 years) by the apprentice of the famous and nationally renowned and recognised Ian Tate this LX hatchback has undergone a very high quality restoration along with the 308 being built by Ian Tate himself!

Tate engine specs. 308ci. 10.65:1 Comp. L34 rods. SRP pistons. 908 Clive Cam, 334lift / 243 duration. B cast VL cylinder heads ported and polished. Yella Terra Roller Rockers. Edelbrock Performer inlet manifold match ported. Modified Quadrajet Carb. Col Air Cowl Intake. Robby Mac mechanical fuel pump. Bosch HEI Distributor. HM Header Extractors. Twin 2-1/4 exhaust flow through mufflers and x-pipe. 9 inch diff producing approximately 430 HP & Dyno tuned with 240 rwkw.

The suspension, Brakes & Tyres have all been upgraded with A9X steering arms & PBR cast calipers & HQ disc rotors. Wheels & tyres are Cheviot Hotwires, Front 15×195 & Rear are 15×265 Ex lightweight race wheels. The drive line is a Toploader 4 speed with Hydraulic clutch. GJ drive shaft & limited slip 9 inch diff with 3.5:1 Diff Ratio. Having been fully rebuilt from the ground up, interior trim is true to its tags being Slate Black as well as the exterior colour of Mandarin Red. Fitted with an A9X bonnet scoop with cold air induction box, this is also one of the very few examples left that havent had bolt on guards fitted to it & still looks tough.

Driven into our Beresfield showroom on full NSW registration, used regularly on weekend drives, car meets & cruises, this exceptionally built full American Steel bodied 31 Model A was completed by Smith Concepts in Brookvale, it runs a Cadillac 390 Big Block V8 with a Turbo 400 auto and Quickchange differential. It is fitted with 3 x chrome Stromberg 97s carbys, NOS Edelbrock 3 x Carby intake, NOS Hildebrant finned aluminum valve covers, custom Straight pipe stainless and ceramic coated exhaust, disc brakes on the front and drum on the rear, custom metal visor and 32 Ford grill, 15×5 front wheels and 15×7 rear with Vintique OEM FORD Chrome wheels with Classic White walls, turbo 400 Transmission, 4-inch roof chop, 4-inch body channels, 1940 Mercury Dash, digital speedo, custom metal door trims, 3 spoke steering wheel, polished steering column and Ginny Shifter with a custom engraved knife shift knob, black vinyl tuck and roll interior and top by East Coast Trim Shop, custom Black Matt paint and pinstriping by Kyle Smith at Smith Concepts, chopped side window glass included but currently not installed, aluminium fuel tank and battery in the boot. The 390 V8 Big Block and has been fully rebuilt in April 2025 with new bearings, pistons, rings and stage 2 cam.

Purchased by the vendors family on the 11/4/1983 from Bayside Motors Frankston Victoria, this tightly held GTHO phase 1 was cherished by the family and driven sparingly until it underwent a high end complete restoration in 1998 where the vendor employed a professional restorer and mechanic to undertake the work along with advice from neighbour & well known GT enthusiast Mark Lamb resulting in an exquisite example that has only travelled a mere 800km in 28 years since restoration.
